The Office of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Mississippi Medical Center promotes the fullest capacities of individuals as academic leaders in education, service to the University of Mississippi Medical Center mission, and in cooperation with the Office of Research, Office of Faculty Affairs and the UMMC Faculty Senate, Office of Student Affairs, Office of Academic Innovation, the Rowland Medical Library, Office of Interprofessional Education (IPE), and others, a focus on leadership, scholarship, and teaching development.
To accomplish these goals, our programs and services for academic development include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitating access to faculty development information resources
- Recognition of faculty for excellence in educational delivery
- Regions TEACH Prize
- The Nelson Order of Teaching Excellence
- The Academy for Excellence in Education
- Coordination of campus interprofessional education activities, including simulation-based education
- Management of selected community and pre-professional outreach programs
- Consultations with individual faculty to address areas of need
- LEADER program
- Promotion and Tenure
- MySite Training
- New Faculty Orientation
